Yolosa - La Cumbre Bicycle Climb 2012

“Biking to the Sky on the Death Road”

Information summary

The bicycle climb Yolosa La Cumbre is organized by the bicycle club Los Huancas of La Paz, Bolivia. The event will take place in the Yungas, a subtropical area 90 kilometers away from La Paz. The total distance of the climb is 63 kilometers starting in Yolosa at 1200 meters above sea level ascending then to the height of 4600 meters at La Cumbre pass. The event will start in Yolosa on Saturday, October the 27th of 2012 at 6:00 am.   The first half of the route is on dirt road and the second half is asphalt.


The registration will be done via internet. The registration fee is Bs 200 (aprox. US$ 30) per participant. However, the participants are welcome to make a donation to help The Huancas bicycle club support the local Children´s Hospital.  A registration form will be available on the website from september 1 to october 6 of 2012. Foreign participants should pay the registration fee upon arrival to La Paz with Bs. 300 (aprox. US$ 50) .
